Lori Ashmore Peters was admitted to practice in Texas in 1996. She has been certified to serve as Attorney Ad Litem and Guardian Ad Litem in the Probate Courts in Texas. Mrs. Peters also dedicates a portion of her practice to working with mentally ill individuals.

Dr. Weisberg will explain how the hospitalist has impacted today’s doctor-patient relationship.  
Step into a typical doctor’s day to understand the current obstacles which get in the way of practicing the art of medicine. Learn about changes that have steered doctors towards seeing more patients in a day. Leave with a better understanding of how you can address hospital post-discharge and communicate to families the importance of having an advocate in a hospital.

Dr. Michael Weisberg has been a practicing gastroenterologist for over 26 years in Plano, Texas.

Connecting with Geriatric Doctors: 
            
Knowing how, when, and why to refer a patient to a physician specializing in Geriatric Medicine can help your patients receive optimal healthcare.  Dr. Studley will discuss the training, knowledge and skills of a Geriatrician, and how these traits can benefit your patients.  She will describe the collaboration between Internal Medicine, Geriatric Medicine and other specialties by citing case studies from her own practice.  You will leave this presentation with a better understanding the role of the Geriatric Medicine physician in a patient’s overall care team.

Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Geriatric Medicine, Dr. Studley has been a strong advocate for Older Adults during her 18 year medical career.  Dr. Studley currently practices at Dallas Diagnostic Associates in Plano, Texas and is affiliated with Hospitals in the Baylor Scott & White System.

Manager of MYRIDE Dallas since December of 2013.  MYRIDE is a program to help older adults and people with disabilities with personalized transportation planning, helping them to live fully independent lives.  Transportation is a key issue in aging that is often overlooked.

Lynn Jenkinson, City of Dallas Senior Services Program
Caseworker II with the City of Dallas. Lynn has previous experience with the Community Council of Greater Dallas as a Care Manager/Caregiver Support Specialist advocating for the elderly, providing educational, informational, and material support to caregivers and older adults.

Knowing how, when, where, and the legal steps for accessing mental health services can be overwhelming. This presentation will provide you with the information needed to make informed decisions. Both presenters, an attorney and a psychiatric social worker, have worked with the psychiatric population for many years, and know first-hand the frustrations providers experience and limitations of mental health services in the Dallas Metroplex.
